I just had my second baby and the question I keep getting is “are you so much calmer with baby number 2?” The short answer is no. No, I am not calmer. I still check my sleeping baby to make sure she is breathing. I still google pictures of baby poop to make sure what I am seeing is normal. And I still seriously lose my chill when this baby gets a fever. However, I feel like I am a smarter mom with baby 2. What I mean is I got smart about not buying (or registering) for crap I don’t need (can you say matching bedding with bumper pads) and instead bought a bunch of non-essentials that absolutely make my life just…easier.
With baby 2, I’m all about the life hacks and shortcuts! This list is not essential to caring for a baby but will make your life a whole lot easier! So whether you are preparing for your first baby or feel this isn't your first rodeo… do yourself a favor and grab a few (or all) of these essential, non-essential for newborns.
1. Butt Wand.
Yes, that’s right. There is a wand that you put diaper cream on and smear onto your precious babies bum. This means no mess on your hands and easy clean up. Trust me. This ones a game changer. Side note, I love this bum cream.
2. Zipper Jammies
In the wee hours of the night when you can barely walk straight never mind fasten 5 million snaps on those jammies… just zip it, zip it real good.
3. WubbaNub Pacifier
This thing is the best. It’s a binky yes, but more than that, it's a binky that is attached to a little stuffed animal that rests on your babies chest and holds the binky in place… so. you. don’t. have. to.
4. Anything that helps make feeding easier
y’all. feeding a baby is hard, period. Whether you are getting your nipples ripped apart or trying to figure out the best formula for your little bub. It can be stressful and down rite frustrating. here are a few non-essentials that will help make life a tad easier
Side note, I came across this great research about which baby formula is best. I found it super helpful and saved me a ton of time.
Well, there ya have it. My top essential, non essentials for a newborn. I’d love to hear your must haves in making mommy life a whole lot easier.
